BYN Trial Version stopped working early.

I am using a trial version of BYN which until last night I was pleased with and planned to purchase. I've been getting the reminder messages that say I have X days until my license expires. On the 7th, I had 4 days but last night (8th) I received a "License validation error!" message and was not able to use BYN. I tried to re-validate, but got the same message. It's very frustrating to lose a night of clear skies.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success. I also deleted the license key from the registry and reentered it again without success.  Before purchasing, I would like to know the fix and cause of this error and be assured it won't happen when I'm 100 miles from home. Oddly, my desktop installation correctly reports that I have 2 days before expiration.

I just archived your trial key.  Go ahead and add it again to your cart and proceed to checkout for a second 30-day trial.

There was an issue with the website yesterday (including the licensing server).

Does BYN require an internet connection to function? The dark locations I typically go to don't even have cell phone service. If internet isn't required, why did BYN fail last night and why didn't it recover this morning? Also why didn't I see this issue on my desktop?

Q about Off-line Plan Editor. After "Save As", the "Capture Plan Center" file name remains the original name. Doesn't update until a reload. Bug or feature?

Sorry about all the questions. Just making sure BYN fully meets my needs prior to dropping my 50 bucks! 😉

Trial version requires internet, purchase keys do not.

I suspect you tried to validate your key on the laptop while the server was down, and this may have locked your key locally on the laptop.

Any reason NOT to install BackyardNIKON 2.1.3 RC4? I see BUG FIX: Rare key validation error when activation server was offline under RC1
Do I need to uninstall 2.1.2 1st?

No reason at all not to install it. All RC are production ready, I just haven't promoted them to production status yet.

No need to uninstall 2.1.2, they will co-exist side by side.
