Your camera is on the supported camera's list. Two things that trip up new users are 1) you have to disable WiFi in the camera in order to be able to connect with a USB cable and 2) if another program, like the Canon EOS Utility, is already connected BYE will not be able to connect.

I would suggest that you look through the archives of this forum for other issues that new users encounter, like LiveView Autofocus setting preventing Frame and Focus from working or anti-virus software preventing images from being downloaded.

Just downloaded BYEOS for use with Canon 850D dslr.  The software will not connect to camera.  Can you help me with this?

Thanks.

Been trying to solve at this end.  Found that the key and the identifier are not accepted.  Pretty sure about the key number, but unsure about identifier as the record for same has been misplaced.  Any way that you can verify the identifier?

I am a user of BYE like you and cannot verify your identifier.

According to what the admins have told other users, you need to remember the login credentials (username and password) to the O'Telescope web  site that you used when you got the license key from the OI'Telescope store. Actually if you remember the correct username, you can reset your password. If you log in with that account you will be able to see your key via My Purchases -> Orders from the menu at the top of the page.

This means that if you can see your key, then you are logged in with the correct account so you have your username (the identifer) correct. It appears to be your email address.

It can be challenging to correctly type the license key into the BYE license validation dialog. An easier way is to copy it to the Windows Clipboard and paste it into the License Validation dialog. This guarantees that you won't confuse O's and 0's or I's and l's (a zero and upper case letter oh or a lower case ell, and the number 1).

I hope this helps.

Also, because this can trip up new users...NEVER POST YOUR LICENSE KEY OR A SCREENSHOT OF YOUR LICENSE KEY TO THIS FORUM OR ANY OTHER PLACE!

Some people do that when trying to display the error that they are getting when trying to validate their license. The forum is public and posting your key to the forum is essentially like giving it away to anyone who wants it.  It is not a good thing to do. At the least the admins will deactivate your key, but they could ban you from the site.

I have just tried your software key and identifier, and it validated without any issues. It is valid and active.

Gary,

It would seem that you are still entering the license key or the identifier incorrectly. Guylain has already said that he verified that the combination, when entered correctly is valid.

The Identifier is the login username for the account that you used when you got the license. It should be 'sogotfredson@gmail.com'. That is, unless you created multiple accounts on the O'Telescope web site and got your license under a different username.

The key will NOT activate using the identifier. Is it safe to share identifier that I am using?  GG

I can confirm with 100% certainty that your key/identifier combination are working, I have personally tried them and it validated.

Are you keying in the key + identifier -or- are you using cut&paste from your orders page. Use cut&paste to prevent any keying errors.

Doing what you said above using cut and paste. I believe that you have tried it yourself and it works.  But, mine does not...what in the world am I doing wrong?

Can you verify the identifier at hour end? That seems to be the only variable as this point.

Thanks.  GG

OS

This morning I uninstalled the current version of BYEOS and downloaded new version.  Performed copy/paste and software will still not open.

The laptop I am using is a new HP Pavillion with Windows 11.  It appears that there is an incompatibility of some sort. Is there a fix?

Thanks. GG

I doubt there is a fix since you are the only person who has reported being unable to validate your key after Guylain was able to validate it by "impersonating" you. Also, you just reported the issue.

It may take a Zoom meeting with Guylain to demonstrate the issue while he watches, but I would wait for him to propose that step.
