Planetary mode and shutter speed confusion

lengro

Question

Hi

Sorry if this has been asked before...

I've connected my Canon 600D to BYE and selected: Planetary, 5x and ISO800

It will record with 25fps, but then why can I select a shutter speed longer than 1/25sec?

If I for instance selects a shutter speed of 1/2sec, shouldn't the framerate then be 2fps - because it has to wait half a second before it can record the next frame?

best regards

Lennart

Good question.

Shutter speeds in live view are NOT real shutter speed... they are what Canon calls 'Exposure Simulation'.

You can use any TV values (up to 2.5 seconds) and the camera will adjust brightness accordingly.  Anything more than 2.5 seconds will yield the same maximum brightness exposure simulation.

Exposure simulation has zero baring on actual fps.

Does this makes sense?
