Hi guys,

I'm trying to help my friend Xavier from Spain with a little problem: he has a 400d and he want to use BYE with Live View. What does he need to do? Any tips?

Cheers and thanks

Hi Paulo,

That will never work.  The 400D does not have live view and no software can add functionality the camera does not support <_>

Live view started with the 450D model.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news <_>

thanks Guylain,

what about those blokes that use aother cable with their 350d's for live view? Doesnt that work somehow with BYE?

cheers

´Paulo

The 350D does not have live view either.  The cable for those older models is for bulb only.

Live view is NOT a capability in these older models... and no software or cable can ever change that.  Sorry... no live view on the 400D because the camera is simply not capable of live view <_>

No problems Paulo.

The sad thing for your friend is that live view was release on the 450D which came out shortly after the 400D in 2008, he just missed it by a few months <_>

You should really look to convince your friend to move up to a used 550D or 600D.  Get LiveView Support AND Bulb and Mirror Lock without requiring a Serial Cable.  He also gets a better Sensor and better Processor, as well as better Video Recording modes (550D has Crop Movie Mode).  And the 600D has a Tiltable LCD - not quite as important once one also has BYEOS...

Hi,

I'm quite familiar with the 600d since my color images were all done with one. But as for pixel size, the 450d is the perfect camera for modding into monochromatic (my mono photos). Both solutions will do fine...as long as I convince him :-))))

cheers

Paulo
