I had a strange issue updating to 3.1.4 from 3.1.3 on a Windows 10 Pro system.  Trying to remember exactly what my current version number was I opened BYE on my laptop with nothing connected and confirmed I was 3.1.3.  I then closed BYE.  Then and only then did I download the 3.1.4 files and opened the installer.  I got an error message I've never seen before telling me it couldn't update because an "oTlescope..." file was still open in another application.  I thought this was possibly because my browser (EDGE) was still open, so I closed it and tried again.  Still failed.  So I tried opening the Task Manager to search for the open file and force it to close.  Still a failure.  So the only thing I could think of was to reboot the laptop and start the update process all over from the file that was already downloaded.  THAT WORKED! thankfully.  So I'm up and running OK again.  But I thought I should report this strange turn of events.

Nothing strange there, this is by design.

The BackgroundWorker process stays active for a few minutes once BYE/BYN is closed.  This is to allow any images/planetary videos in the queue to complete its process.

If you have nothing in the queue it is 100% safe to kill this process with no negative side effect.

If you kill this process while you still have items in the queue they will simply be left in the BackyardTEMP folder.  So even you you kill it prematurely you have not lost any images.

Hi.  I've just downloaded the upgrade.  Many thanks Guylain for doing this on your summer break!  I noticed that you mention the new feature to park after an image session but, and it could be my old eyes, I can find it in the updated version and nor on the comparison list.  Just wondering if I'm missing something as this is a great new feature for automating imaging sessions and avoiding work-arounds.

Cheers,

Gord

He means that he can't find the Park control in the updated version.

I saw it when I ran BYE for the first time after upgrading to 3.1.4, but now I can't find it either, even when I connect to a scope. I thought that it was a hyperlink beside the load and save capture plan links below the capture plan, but it was not there when I ran it today.

Thanks. That makes sense. I think I was expecting to see a field to select when creating the capture plan rather than after the plan was running. I'll check it out!

Cheers,

Gord

Yeah, but the screen real estate in the capture plan is pretty much full... and I had space in the progress panel when the plan is running.

Woohoo!!

(Guylain's "What I Did With My Summer 2015!!"...)

Thanks, but to be honest this is just a minor service release with small changes that have been accumulated over the past 3 to 4 months since the previous release :)
