Drift alignment Controls - could they be made larger?

1DegreeN

Question

I was checking out drift alignment for the first time and for me, even with my glasses on and an external mouse and in the comfort of my own living room (aiming at Saturn through the window), the arrow buttons for Rotate and X,Y movement are just too small.

Would it be possible to make them larger? There is some undeveloped screen real estate immediately below the current line of controls - room to expand perhaps?

Thanks!

John

I see that Guylain has already Liked this post (that's promising!). Rather than create a duplicate post, could a Moderator please move this thread to the Feature Suggestion Box subforum?

To add some background to my suggestion: I use an Astrotrac mount which has no reverse slew so the classic DARV method (tracing a narrow V image of the target star) is not an option for me. With the mount stopped I first try to determine the angle of drift, rotate the reticle and then with tracking on repeatedly tweak the mount and move the reticle to recenter the star. Big, chunky arrow buttons would very much help to relieve the frustration.

Thanks

John

I tried this tonight and it is a pain to make these buttons bigger because the are part of a control library.

I have made them wider a little bit and I have increased the font as well which makes the spin buttons appear larger... but it is probably not sufficient... albeit they are a little bigger.

One thing though is once the cursor is inside that numeric field you can use the cursor UP/DOWN keys on your keyboard to rotate the reticle.

I will try to see if I can use another control in lieu of the numeric spin button to rotate the reticle in a future release but at least in BYE 3.1.4 you see them a bit bigger.

Thanks very much for the changes Guylain, I look forward to checking them out on 3.1.4. I had not realized that the up/down cursor keys could be used to change the spinners. I just tried it out (on 3.1.3) and that is certainly much much easier than trying to click on the arrows. However tabbing between the controls is a bit odd. The tab order is X, Width, Y, Rotate. After the initial determination of drift angle I spend most of the time altering X and Y to recenter the star after tweaking the mount. Any chance that the tab order could be changed to match the left to right order of the controls on the screen?

Thanks

John
