I completely understand the challenges involved in tracking Canon’s SDK changes and appreciate the work that goes into maintaining compatibility across so many camera models. Just wanted to get a sense of what might be possible going forward.

I then installed on my laptop but when I put in my license key and press Validate, it just hangs.

I understand I can only use it on one pc at once, but I thought I could install it on more than one pc at a time? If not, how do I deactivate on my desktop, as i will mostly use my laptop with my telescope?

I purchased a copy in 2022 and its been running fine. Unfortunately Ive had to get my laptop sorted after a few problems and BYE was removed.

Ive run set up and copied my validation key into the dialogue box and it will not validate.

I used BackyardEOS previously on another computer and am trying to set it up on my new laptop. However, when I type in my license numbers and identifier, it tells me that digits are not recognizable. Please help me regain access. The last 5 digits of the license are 34034.

Using Windows 10, the software connected to these cameras.   Windows 11 pro.   We also use this at Kitt Peak Observatory for the visitor center.

Is there a way to fix this

I am doing planetary imaging with a Canon 7DII plus a 2x TC attached to a C-8, and am collecting the videos using BackyardEOS. Last year, I had to put a plastic ring over the pins between the TC and the scope for the camera to fire, and this year I needed to put the plastic ring over the pins in the camera body, and have the camera set to LiveView video mode, or else the camera states to check the lens connections. Not sure what settings may have changed, but I am able to collect 5x LiveView planetary videos.

Here's my question. I have the camera set to "M" mode, and am only collecting JPGs and not AVI files to save limited computer hard drive space. I started collecting video frames last night, and the camera box in the BackyardEOS screen showed "Tv" mode and S1 image quality, even though the camera was in "M" mode. I was collecting videos at ISO 1600 and 1/30 second. After about an hour of collecting videos, I switched over to imaging mode to collect a few RAW stills in Bulb mode.

When I switched back to planetary imaging (still only JPGs) the BackyardEOS camera control box now showed "M" mode and L image quality. I did not change any other planetary settings.

Why would this happen, and does it matter? The video frames collected in both Tv, S1 and M, L are the same pixel size. The only difference was that the exposure simulation was a bit darker in M, L mode, and I had to up the ISO to 2000, but that could have been atmospheric differences.

Is there any quality difference in the planetary videos in S1 versus L mode? How does one even change that in BackyardEOS? All I could see was a setting for JPG and/or AVI.

  This is some information to put in your folder marked "for a cold dark cloudy day in winter".

  I checked in and downloaded the current X64 prerelease version.  I connected to my recent purchase of a R5 Mk II and got the following information.

  I saw on the non-release of new firmware 1.1 there was an item about new SDK compatibility.  Maybe you can get it updated when you have time.

  I know people in Canada have to make the most use of summer's long days and comfortable temperatures and I won't be getting out in the Texas heat before it cools down in either November or December so no rush on my part.  The R7 is working fine.

  I will check in weekly for the next month or so then probably less often until November or December.  I will be happy to test any software modifications.  When you get to them.

Is there an update for this issue????

When I tried opening the software today, a screen wanted to validate my license. The license key field was already filled in, but I needed to input my website account login name associated with the license key.

It would not accept this data. I wonder if it's looking for my basic license key, which I don't seem to have anymore, or cannot find.

PLEASE HELP !!

Could I request a second trial please?

Work and more than a few cloudy nights means I've only been able to to a quick daylight trial.
